[A pause. He's tried to sort his thoughts out in his head before, and he really wanted to avoid coming to this, but - it seems like the only way. Cole can't do this alone.]
Someone died. I read about it on the network. [Another pause-] His name is Samuel Volaille.
[He's a little taken aback, not sure what to take from her reaction. If there was any reaction at all. It's so much harder to tell over a communicator.]
[It's a small frame that opens the door for her, shoulders slouching only slightly, absence of any positivity in his expression. The general silence in the house - save for the animals scurrying around - gives away that yes, he is alone.]
Good afternoon, detective Montoya. [After a pause, he steps aside for her to step in, making sure none of the pets try to scamper out the door.]
[If Cole minds the loneliness, it doesn't seem to show. He's always been used to it, and at least he has the company of animals, here. It's a luxury his mother couldn't ever allow either of them to have in their small apartment back home.]
I didn't know who else to call.
[Not that she's not trustworthy. From what he's seen, she wants to help. So he'll do what he can.]
Would you like to drink something? There's orange juice.
[Soon enough he's back with a glass in his hands, handing it over to her before he wipes his hands on his shirt and takes a seat of his own. There's hesitance in his expression, pressing his lips together, looking down and to the side in a series of slow movements, building up some courage and gathering the right words.]
He told me his name is Samuel. Samuel Volaille, but everybody called him Jugar.

[He sounds shy, like he hesitated to take this call. He was expected a text back.]
I wanted to ask you something.
no subject
Sure. What is it?
no subject
no subject
Yes. Did something happen?
no subject
[A pause. He's tried to sort his thoughts out in his head before, and he really wanted to avoid coming to this, but - it seems like the only way. Cole can't do this alone.]

He was killed.
no subject
I know. We're working to solve the case.
Do you have information?
no subject
He told me something.
no subject
[ Silence. ]
You were there when it happened?
no subject
[Thoughts, Cole. Turn them into words.]
He came to me after he died.
[Don't think I'm crazy.]
no subject
There's quiet surprise before her mind registers the information. That must be his power. ]
What did he say?
no subject
Should I say it here?
no subject
[ Ordinarily, witnesses should speak at the police station, but she's not comfortable with that idea. ]
Where are you?
no subject
no subject
I'll be there soon.
no subject
[And he hangs up. Time to nervously wait, dum dee dum.]

Good afternoon, detective Montoya. [After a pause, he steps aside for her to step in, making sure none of the pets try to scamper out the door.]

Hi, Cole. Thanks for calling me.
no subject
I didn't know who else to call.
[Not that she's not trustworthy. From what he's seen, she wants to help. So he'll do what he can.]
Would you like to drink something? There's orange juice.
no subject
Sure. Did you already have breakfast?
no subject
You can sit down if you want.
[He gestures at the couch in the living room before retreating into the kitchen to get her drink.]
no subject
[ She takes a seat, glancing around the room for a moment while she waits. ]
no subject
He told me his name is Samuel. Samuel Volaille, but everybody called him Jugar.
no subject
Thanks.
[ Then, after a sip, she listens attentively. After Cole speaks, she looks at him for a moment. Gently, she encourages him to continue. ]
Go on.
no subject
He was sad about his wife. He kept saying he was sorry.
[A pause.]
I think he did something.
['She was so lovely', he'd say.]
